Training for Staff
The S.U.P.E.R. Peer Staff Training is for two training days for selected staff (up to five staff) and consists of learning about program start-up, program implementation, and program maintenance. Learn how to apply SPCP Standards and Ethics. Peer counseling programs can include one-on-one helping, mentoring, mediation, meditation, and leadership. This training is designed to help the adult professional learn the basic steps in putting together any peer-led program. It is most effective when training takes place with a team. Focus will be on identifying local needs, plus mental health needs and evaluation of peer programs. Each participant will be presented with their Certified Peer Program Educator certificate at the end of the training.
The Staff Peer Resource Team Training will focus on the following:
Identifying needs in building/community (Ex. Low academics, conflict)
National Standards and Ethics around peer resource programs
Selection of the peer leaders, helpers, mediators, tutors etc.
Utilization of peer resources (Short and long term)
Understanding the rationale for peer programs
How to organize your program
Roles of team members
Plan of Action
The team training will involve lecture, small group work, and role playing and more.
Interested in receiving CEUs?
Staff can receive CEU(s) for Suicide Prevention training within the curriculum. We are CAMFT approved CE provider for Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (LPCC), and Licensed Educational Psychologists (LEP).
